High Performance Networking and perfSONAR Workshop

July 22, 2015 @ 8:00 am - July 23, 2015 @ 5:00 pm

Attention higher education network engineers, system engineers, researchers and developers!

Organizers: Jason Zurawski (ESnet), Ken Miller (Penn State), Mike Carey (KINBER)

This free two-day event on Penn State’s University Park campus will focus on the deployment of perfSONAR platforms within the campus environment. perfSONAR is a network measurement and monitoring toolkit that helps to identify and isolate problems as they happen. Highlights include:

•    perfSONAR basics, use cases and best practices.
•    Science DMZ, Data Transfer Nodes and what it could mean for your campus.
•    End-to-end performance.
•    SDN overview, use cases, including for DDOS mitigation.
•    HPC & OpenStack cloud and storage examples.

As part of this perfSONAR pilot program, pre-configured perfSONAR platforms will be provided to selected campuses to determine if these pre-configured appliances lead to faster integration of perfSONAR in the campus environment; ultimately impacting the Pennsylvania perfSONAR mesh and national performance measurement infrastructure.
